Chino Hills 2nd Place!

Wow, wow and wow! The team played incredible this weekend. They faught from behind to pull off the first victory and came bats ablazing the next 3 games.

Ok, could there have been some bending the rules or unfair or mishonest addition of the 3 and 4 hitters. Maybe, but we need to always be the better people, parents, fans and coaches. We won't go to those levels. The games are about the boys learning, growing and having fun playing at a much higher level. Regardless of the outcome, they battled and hung in there with Pico Boys 9u All Star Team and could have easily won. A 9-6 loss is nothing to sneeze at when it is 11:00 pm and 3 games in a row.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WITHOUT A LOSS IN POOL PLAY OR SEMI'S IN FIRST TRUE 9U TOURNAMENT! WOW, HOW PROUD WE WERE AS COACHES AT THIS TEAM.

Thank you Alex, Dexter and Marc for being there with us because we couldn't have done it without you! Thank you to your parents for sticking it out in the cold cold nights.

Next tournament: January 3-4 Oxnard

I need to know by Weds who is in and who is out! This is our last tournament til Presidents Weekend in February.

Jared, we missed you this weekend and Dexter hope your ankle is doing well!

Thanks to Martin and Laura for the pics, hopefully everyone saw them!

Ventura Tournament!

What a great job everyone did in this first tournament! Scoring 21 runs in 3 games against 3 ten year old teams is fantastic. We still have a lot to work on but we will get there and they showed a lot of heart to keep playing after being down in each game.

Practice this week Monday and Thursday!

Info!

Great job everyone hitting today. We have 10 confirmed for the 13-14 in Ventura and possibly 11 if Dexter can join us. We have 9 confirmed for 20-21 in Chino and possibly 11 if Jared and Ben join us, if not then we will pick up one more for this tournament.

Practice was very good on Monday and we will have a couple of days to practice next week as well.

Thanks to Gabe, Jared, Ben and Dexter joining us!

This team is exciting me and I am expecting great things. Working on line ups and stuff and we are strong top to bottom it is a very good thing.

Housekeeping items:

1. Please give me a check or cash for $45 on Monday for the Ventura Tournament and don't forget you need to bring a unwrapped gift worth $10.

2. We still don't know about uniforms so if they are undecided by tomorrow if we will get them by next week I am going to order shirts so that we have them just in case. I will try and keep them under $25 and then we can use them for practice.

3. Hopefully we will do that bag exchange next Thursday. They are giving us bags that are worth double of that we paid.

4. Don't forget to get white pants with the black piping down the legs for the tournament if you have not done so already. I have not been able to find Cameron's size at the stores but I found a site to order them for $31 and free shipping so let me know if you need to order them as well.

5. Lastly, make sure the boys are taking care of their hats. We only have one right now.

See you Monday!

Hats!

Hats are in!!!!! They look great. If you want your hat before Monday then I will be at West Hills on Friday for a 11:30 game and then in the snack shack from 2:00-3:30 so you can get them. I will also be at the field on Saturday for a 2:00 game.

Come out and watch some games this weekend if you are not playing. Saturday you can watch The Nationals (cameron is on) play SWAT (I believe Logan and Quinn are playing) at 2:00.

Hope you all are having a great Thanksgiving Day!

Next week we will practice Mon, Weds and hit on Thurs. I have a new player coming out, he has been playing up so he should fit in well, also, Gabe Klorman will be playing with us in Dec. so he will be at practice.

Thanksgiving Week!

No practice this week. Good luck to the guys playing in tournaments this weekend, have fun but don't get hurt!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

I updated the site a bit so view it and make sure the boys are seeing it.

Keep going over signs with them as well.

We are still needing two players so keep your eyes open.

Welcome!

The Scrappers welcome the Tomay family and Horvat family to the team. Casey was added last week and Jonathon was added today. Michelle Horvat has also volunteered to be our official Team Scorekeeper, thank you.

Updates!

Bags were in today and hats come in tomorrow. We need to get embroidery done on them and then we will pass them out. I have collected two checks so far so everyone needs to give me the remainder this week, thanks.

We are playing tournaments Dec 13-14 Toys for Tots in Ventura and then we are playing Dec 19-21 Christmas Classic in Chino Hills. We are looking at a possible 3rd tournament on Jan 2-4 New Years Classic in Ventura, we will decide in Dec after we see what else pops up. Mark your calendars for the Dec tournaments.

I am thinking Friday Dec 5 for a team get together. Let me know if any of you would like to host it and then we will put Dana and Laura in charge since they offered earlier, don't volunteer because I will hold you to it :)

Please, keep going over signs with the boys! Let me know who wants to do hitting at the hitting zone on Thursday, I think they should keep hitting.

Keep visiting our site for updates and you can post anything you like as well. We can start adding pictures to the site as well when we start taking them http://westhillsscrappers.blogspot.com/

Practice--Hitting, Signs and Uniforms!

Thanks for everyone showing up to practice. We got a lot to work on but went over some very important items this past practice. Please go over the signs we worked on, if you need them I will send them to you in a separate email.

We have reserved a cage at the hitting zone from 4:00-5:00 on Thursday. We have a discount card so it is only $40 an hour vs. $50. We are going to start practicing twice a week because we are only a couple of weeks away from possibly first tournament.

Thanks to the Horvats for bringing Casey out to practice with us.

Uniforms, hats and bags have been ordered! We will have hats in a week but we will need to get them embroidered once they come in. We will also need to get the bags embroidered with logo and numbers as well but that might be after first tournament. The cost is about $135 per player and $40 for the coaches which covers uniforms, hats and bags, plus coaches shirts (tax and delivery). They are holding a card but I would like to collect from everyone before it comes in. Have a check made out to cash and bring it on Thurs or next Monday's practice!

We are still shooting to do our first tournament the weekend of the Nov. 22-23. All will be determined if and where we play on whether we are going to get uniforms in time. If not then we will look to do 2 tournaments in December. One at the beginning as possibly one between Christmas and New Years (a Big National Tournament).

Things are coming together and the team is looking good!

Keep your eye out for players. We have enough subs but we still need those 2 missing pieces to round out out nine!

Monday Cages

Just a reminder! We are hitting at the hitting zone in Westlake/agoura at 4:00-5:00. We have the cage reserved for that hour. We need everyone to bring $8.00-$9.00 to cover the cost.

We will see you there! Thanks L.O. for setting it up!

A lot of great games this past weekend. I heard and saw so many good things about players on this team. I heard Shane pitched well. I heard Reid has gotten his swing back. I saw Quinn pitch an inning and strike out a couple and got a line drive hit to left. Cameron and Logan both pitched will in our game, Cameron striking out the side and logan striking out two. Sorry Sam don't know if you played.

Keep up the practicing at home. Remember, anyone can pitch at home with a couple of socks rolled up. Practice the form and we will work on the speed and locations.

Practice!

Great Job today. It was good to see what we have at this point and they all did well. We have a lot to work on to get ready for tournaments. Thanks to Sam for coming out today and working out with us.

It seems the one day that we all don't have practice for West Hills at this point is Mondays. I would like to schedule practice for the next few Mondays. We will go from 4:00-5:30 at Knapp.

I would like to encourage you to have them hit as much as possible. Fast and slow pitching so they see the difference. Also, have them practice the pitching techniques we worked on today so that we can get passed technique and get to speed and location.

Have a great baseball weekend, unless you are playing us, just kidding!
